Integrative Oncologist
Stage 4 cancer survivor and heart transplant recipient. Mayo Clinic consultant, Fountain Life CMO, and the first person to run a marathon one year after a heart transplant.
Every morning at 5 AM, before I head to the clinic, I mix up a special formula that's become my daily ritual. It's not just another supplement; it's the culmination of everything I've learned in over 20 years of practicing medicine, surviving cancer, and receiving a new heart.
After two decades at Mayo Clinic treating patients with cancer and chronic disease, I've learned something profound: we don't just want to treat disease, we want to prevent it, slow it, maybe even reverse it.
My personal journey, from battling stage IV cancer during medical school to undergoing a heart transplant in 2021, taught me the importance of resilience and integrative health. These experiences didn't just make me a better doctor; they made me understand, on the deepest level, why we need to take a proactive approach to our health.
My Journey: From Patient to Physician

As a young girl growing up in Ohio, I was fascinated by the centenarians featured on NBC's Today Show. I decided then that I wanted to live to be 100. My parents lived a healthy lifestyle, and I loved when they took me to the health food store. That focus on health developed at a young age.
I started long-distance running, regularly covering more than 10 miles a day, and was a competitive gymnast. After graduating from Ohio State University with a degree in exercise physiology, I worked with centenarian runners at The Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research.
Then, three months into medical school, everything changed. While walking up a small flight of stairs to my apartment, I collapsed. Diagnosed with stage IV aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, I was told I had three months to live. I was 26 years old.
I joined a clinical trial and underwent aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. The transplant required a four-month hospitalization. My medical team, unable to keep me confined to a bed, had an exercise bike delivered to my floor. I rode it at 4 AM every morning before the other patients awakened.
"There was a big window in front of the bike, so I could ride and watch the sun rise over the mountain vista. I saw other patients in their beds and they looked so sick. I am not sure I would have survived if I hadn't committed to continue my healthy lifestyle even when I was sick."
Unfortunately, the therapies that saved my life took a toll on my heart. I graduated medical school, married, and gave birth to a beautiful daughter. But by 2003, doctors diagnosed me with advanced heart failure.
While giving a presentation to colleagues at Mayo Clinic, I suffered ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest. I was down for several minutes. My internal defibrillator fired unsuccessfully multiple times before it finally brought me back to life.
By early 2021, my health was rapidly declining. I was hospitalized and placed on IV therapy to help my heart function. Then, on February 5, 2021, the miracle call came: a matching heart became available.
"It's so hopeful. But it's hard to be excited, when someone has died, to give you life."
Two weeks after my transplant, I walked unassisted out of the hospital. Three and a half months later, I ran my first 5K in 20 years. And then, one year and one day after my transplant, I ran a full marathon: the Donna Marathon in Jacksonville, on a cold, drizzly, windy day.
I became the first person in history to run a marathon just one year after a heart transplant. At the finish line, Mayo Clinic staff held signs of support in the crowd. The point isn't to encourage everyone to run a marathon. It's to give hope and inspire people to take an active role in their health.
From Fighting Disease to Preventing It
I've spent my career fighting disease in hospitals and clinics. As an integrative oncologist at Mayo Clinic, I've seen the toll that cancer takes on patients and their families. But I always wished I could do more to stop these illnesses before they start.
That's what drew me to longevity medicine. As the Chief Medical Officer of Fountain Life, named "Longevity Clinic of the Year 2025," I work every day to help people not just live longer, but live better. The science is clear: the choices we make today directly impact how we age tomorrow.
"I've spent so long helping people fight disease; now I get to help people thrive and potentially turn back the clock on their health."
Building the Formula with NASA-Level Precision

When I joined forces with IM8 Health, we had an ambitious goal: to create a single daily drink that could deliver comprehensive nutrition and truly support long-term health. We brought together experts from everywhere, including Dr. James Green, NASA's former Chief Scientist, to design it with a level of precision usually reserved for astronauts in space.
Why NASA? Because astronauts face accelerated aging in space. Microgravity causes bone loss, muscle atrophy, and cellular damage at rates far exceeding what we experience on Earth. NASA has spent decades researching how to combat these effects. Dr. Green brought that expertise to our team.
Our development team included cardiologists, nutritionists, and leaders from Mayo Clinic and Cedars-Sinai. We literally had rocket scientists and world-renowned physicians at the table! Every ingredient and dose was chosen scientifically. Aryna Sabalenka, the #1 tennis player in the world, is one of the many elite athletes who trust IM8. If it's trusted by champions, that says a lot.
Why Most Supplements Fall Short
I've been skeptical of supplements for most of my career. The industry is largely unregulated, and most products make claims they can't back up. Here's what I've observed after reviewing thousands of products:
The Problem with Traditional Supplements
- Single-ingredient focus: Most supplements target one pathway, ignoring the interconnected nature of our body systems
- Inadequate dosing: Many products use "pixie dust" amounts, just enough to list on the label but not enough to be effective
- Poor bioavailability: Cheap ingredients that your body can't actually absorb
- No clinical validation: Claims based on individual ingredient studies, not the actual product
- Pill fatigue: Taking 10-15 different supplements daily is unsustainable for most people
That's exactly the problem we set out to solve. We created two distinct formulas, each designed for a different goal but both built on the same uncompromising standards of science, dosing, and purity.
IM8 Daily Ultimate Essentials Pro: The Foundation
Before you can think about longevity, you need to get the basics right. Most people are walking around with nutritional gaps they don't even know about. Deficiencies in magnesium, vitamin D, B-vitamins, and zinc are incredibly common, even among people who eat well. These gaps silently undermine your energy, your sleep, your digestion, and your immune system.
That's why we built IM8 Daily Ultimate Essentials Pro: 90 nutrient-rich ingredients in a single scoop that replaces 16 or more daily supplements. This isn't a multivitamin with token doses. Every ingredient is included at clinically meaningful levels, in bioavailable forms your body can actually absorb.
Comprehensive Support for 9 Major Organ Systems
One serving delivers targeted nutrition for your entire body
What makes Essentials Pro different from a typical greens powder or multivitamin? It's the comprehensiveness. We included a complete digestive support system with prebiotics, 10 billion CFU of probiotics, and FloraSMART® postbiotics. We added clinically dosed CoQ10 for heart health, MSM for joint support, and clinical-dose elderberry and selenium for immune defense. Every ingredient is third-party tested and NSF Certified for Sport, meaning it's free from over 280 banned substances, heavy metals, and contaminants. It's trusted by athletes and sports leagues including WADA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and PGA.
Essentials Pro: Clinical Results That Speak for Themselves
We didn't just create a formula and hope it worked. We conducted a rigorous 12-week randomized, controlled clinical trial through the San Francisco Research Institute, registered with the National Library of Medicine (NCT06655597). The results for Daily Ultimate Essentials Pro exceeded our expectations:
95%
Felt a noticeable boost in daily energy
85%
Felt less bloated with improved digestion
80%
Reported getting better sleep
70%
Noticed sharper focus and mental clarity
*Results based on a 12-week randomized, controlled clinical trial conducted by the San Francisco Research Institute.

IM8 Daily Ultimate Longevity: Going Beyond Essentials Pro
Essentials Pro gives you the foundation. But if you're serious about longevity, about actually slowing down the biological clock, you need to go further. That's where Daily Ultimate Longevity comes in.
In 2013, researchers identified what they called the "Hallmarks of Aging," a framework that revolutionized how we understand why our bodies deteriorate over time. Originally 9 hallmarks, now expanded to 12, these represent the fundamental biological processes that determine how quickly we age. They include things like genomic instability, telomere shortening, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cellular senescence, the accumulation of "zombie cells" that damage surrounding tissue.
The 12 Hallmarks of Aging
IM8 Daily Ultimate Longevity is the only supplement designed to target all 12 biological pathways
What excites me as a physician is that we can now target each of these hallmarks. This isn't science fiction; it's peer-reviewed research from institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and yes, Mayo Clinic. Daily Ultimate Longevity includes everything in Essentials Pro, plus a powerful 5-complex formula of advanced longevity compounds specifically designed to address all 12 of these aging pathways.
Autophagy Activation
Spermidine and other compounds activate your body's cellular cleanup system, removing damaged proteins and organelles before they accumulate and cause harm.
Senolytic Action
A triple senolytic formula with Fisetin, Quercetin, and Trans-Resveratrol targets and removes "zombie cells" — senescent cells that accelerate aging and damage healthy tissue.
NAD+ Restoration
300mg of NMN boosts NAD+ levels, restoring cellular energy production and activating longevity genes called sirtuins. NAD+ naturally declines by up to 50% between ages 40 and 60.
"Anti-aging tries to reverse damage after it's done. Longevity prevents the damage from happening in the first place. That's the paradigm shift, and it's why I take IM8 Daily Longevity every single morning."
